From Side Tracked to Fast Tracked

From Side Tracked to Fast Tracked
by Jeremiah Belgica

Sometimes things happen that seem to derail all our previously planned future. However, sometimes what seems to be a sidetracking of our plans are actually a fast tracking of God’s greater plan for us.

The route to success is not a straight line. It is a complicated path with many unexpected turns. Turns that are made by the traveler who was forced by the confluence of circumstances and sometimes by a rejection filled chain of events. Despondency can sometimes be a temporary reality to the traveler who has given his all for the journey to success, only to realize that life has been unresponsive and goes by a different time frame or season, at least for the moment.

However, contrary to the gloom of the circumstances, is that actually behind the curtain is a full grown tree of success that has been steadily growing without his knowledge. It was just waiting for God’s right time to be revealed and share its fruits to the patient warrior.

All that God was doing was letting the traveler develop the character of perseverance in the midst of darkness. Because in the midst of the darkness one is forced to walk not by sight but by faith in what he hears (Word of God).

Without faith it is impossible to please God. And without faith it is impossible to receive anything from God. Because God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

Once faith was activated in him, the real journey of the traveler started — the journey of faith.

So then what started as a journey for success became a journey of faith that led him to succeed through Him whose faith has now rested.

After all, it was not just the journey or destination to success that actually mattered to God, but more so, the journeyman’s heart and right character. For at the time when God promotes or rewards you for your faithful work, you will find out that the right character created by the process is as much as a reward than the promotion itself.

So then, let us not be wary when we are forcibly side tracked by circumstances, but let us take it as an opportunity to fast track our faith by trusting Him who gives us more than the success that we wished for.

Remember, that the fast tracking of your character and promotion might be the reason for your temporary side track.

Let us all enjoy the ride.

  • Sir, it is true that God is more concern with our character above our victories, for truly the moments of our refining is more of a spectacle than our shining as gold. It is said in His word that “….you have to suffer grief in all kinds of trial. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith— of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire— may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” It is to our benefit that we experience such a trial as this present time permits, for it hastens the building up of our person as into the likeness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
