My View on Martial Law
Martial law extracts varied reactions and perceptions from those who experienced it. I have one from both ends.
The day it was declared and the unfolding events thereafter were hugged by an intensifying anxiety. I was expecting to be executed, nowhere to hide, being incarcerated. Yet I braced myself with a facade of dignified defiance! My hatred for the "establishment" and the "oppressive" regime of the "burgis at oligarkya" exemplified by Marcos psyched me up.
Obviously I survived!
And slowly had a changed of heart in the span of 7years.
As I see it today. Martial law Philippine style was unique and beneficial.
Sayang, hindi nagkaroon ng smooth transition.
