THE LORD'S VINEYARD COVENANT COMMUNITY

HISTORY

Started as a fellowship in 1982 called "Jesus The Vine Fellowship" in the house of couple Bobby and Mercy Cordova at J. Ruiz St., San Juan, Metro Manila. The fellowship, spearheaded by Bro. Butch Belgica, together with Bros. Bobby and Rey Cordova, Dennis and Augusto Tan, and their families, the Nabongs and several others.

The venue of the fellowship transferred to Sta.Mesa Market which is now the site of SM Centerpoint. Two (2) pastors namely, Bros. Ramon Banta and Ramon Clutario were added to the group as the congregation grew.

After a couple of months, it moved to a big house in Ermin Garcia St., in Cubao, Quezon City. The church pursued an aggressive campus evangelism and the Island Evangel Gospel Ship ministry.

The fellowship stayed in Ermin Garcia Street for a couple of years and eventually transferred to the Campus Ministry Office at Room 414, Puzon Building located at E. Rodriguez Ave. cor. Gilmore Ave. Quezon City, the church’s present address.
In 1988, the fellowship experienced a major change in the leadership structure from one pastor-one flock system to the biblical plurality of elders.  Bro. Butch became Senior Elder.  Bro. Ramon Banta opted to start a new congregation in the university belt at C.M. Recto Avenue, Manila while Bro. Ramon Clutario had by then pioneering a work in Malolos, Bulacan courtesy of the ministry partners.
The church slowly grew in maturity.  It heeded God’s call to enter into a legitimate church and establish covenant relationship.

THE LORD'S VINEYARD

When God called us into a covenanting community of believers in 1988, we chose the name by which we would be known to ourselves and others very carefully.  After much prayer and deliberation, came the name THE LORD’S VINEYARD COVENANT COMMUNITY.

The term LORD’S VINEYARD was chosen to retain the concept of the Jesus the Vine Fellowship and was inspired by the message of Isaiah 5:1-7.

THE PARABLE OF THE VINEYARD

ISAIAH 5

1.Now will I sing to my well-beloved
        a song of my beloved touching his vineyard.
         My well-beloved hath a vineyard
         in a very fruitful hill:

2.and he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof,
        and planted it with the choicest vine,
         and built a tower in the midst of it,
         and also made a winepress therein:
         and he looked that it should bring forth grapes,
         and it brought forth wild grapes.

3.And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah,
        judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

4.What could have been done more to my vineyard,
        that I have not done in it?
         Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes,
         brought it forth wild grapes?

5.And now go to;
        I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard:
         I will take away the hedge thereof,
         and it shall be eaten up;
         and break down the wall thereof,
         and it shall be trodden down:

6.and I will lay it waste:
        it shall not be pruned, nor digged;
         but there shall come up briers and thorns:
         I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

7.For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel,
        and the men of Judah his pleasant plant:
         and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression;
         for righteousness, but behold a cry.
